How important is legacy?

I don't see anything about legacy making one bit of difference on the Undergraduate Admissions website...am I missing something?

Thanks!

You are not missing anything at all. This year, at least, it totally did not make a difference AT ALL. The legacy with our family is both parents and a sister currently attending (not true legacy with her). My son was denied from UP. I actually visited admissions during one of my recent visits to my daughter. The person with whom I met told me it would not have helped my son get in.

Legacy only matters if you’re family contributes money ;). (A good enough amount)

this is true ! the money we have contributed didn’t make the cut :-).

Thanks PSUalum. Can I ask what your son’s stats were? (We are out of state as well, so it would be harder.)

sure : 4.23 W 3.52 UW 660M 540 R 590 W

he opted for summer session.
