I applied early to a really prestigious school and I was deferred. During all of my high school year, I've been 7 in my school of 600 until the last semester of junior year, when I dropped to 12. :( First semester of senior year, I took all AP classes and an additional online AP class. My grades dropped and were mostly B's unweighted. My rank dropped to 20 something. I was wondering how much this would affect my chance at the school and maybe other top colleges. I'm afraid it would seem like a downward trend to adcoms... so how important is the midterm report?

please help! i would really appreciate it

for prestigious schools, a drop like that might hurt a bit.... but the fact that they were ALL APs should minimize the damage

I would say little effect overall

thanks so much tapedDuck :D

What if I have 90+ in all classes except a 75 in Calculus ?
Classes include 4 APs out of a possible 7

If you're applying to Tech schools (MIT/Caltech), thats bad, for other colleges 1 C and the rest As will do a little damage, but again nothing too big

I was always under the impression that senior year midterm grades were to make sure you didn't go crazy and start failing every class. If it's a big deal, colleges will notify you asking for a reason. I remember Stanford doing that, and even big, bad prestigious colleges understand a little slacking. ;)
