How important is non math/science GPA for a math/physics major?

I would ask this question to a counselor or adviser, but seeing as how it's next to impossible to talk to them around this time, I figured I'd throw this out to the vets of the board.

So for a prospective math/physics major planning to go to graduate school, is the non math/science GPA very important? I find myself wanting to take interesting breadth courses, like some philosophy ones, but worry that the course work may be too intensive on top of my other classes and my GPA might suffer. If possible, I'd like to take some lower unit breadths I'm interested, possible as P/NP, so I wouldn't have to worry about the whole GPA thing and could just enjoy the class.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, and I also have this question.

Any answer by someone who's further along the math/physics track would be appreciated. Thanks.
