How important is requesting an INTERVIEW?

How important is it to request an interview during the application process. How much does it help you if at all?

and also, is an "on-campus" interview prefered over an "off-campus" interview?

My D diid not interview; many kids she has talked to did not interview. I think they only do on-campus interviews and they are not required. There are admissions people who travel to visit high schools, but I believe that is more for informational purposes and not an interview. D missed the rep at her high school. It certainly did not have an effect on her admission.

Interviews are not required, however, for those who are really comfortable with them, it may help them. So I wouldn't ask for one if interviewing makes you jittery. Every bit helps, but so does visiting the school. You will really get the feel for it, and determine if you like GW in the first place.
Then, if you interview, at least you can be more comfortable asking specific questions of what you saw.

it's a good idea but not required. they have no preference as far as on or off-campus interviews. they consider it if it was a good interview, but don't put you in the bottom of the pile if you didn't interview. i didn't but that's because i'd have to take a plane to the nearest place they do them.
