usually asking a hospital or clinic where you dont know anyone or where no one knows you isn't going to get you many oppurtunities

i know, so do u have any suggestions? like do i have to have connections?

Volunteer first, then politely ask around about research opportunities, then ask if they need any help. Ask A LOT of people & do not give up! Most people that have great research have connections- OR- are persistent & make it happen

^yes. I called around to get my opportunities.

if not research, is governor's school for health care alrite?

Research is definitely not necessary, but meaningful research would undoubtedly increase your chances considerably. Make sure you can talk about your research though and act like your interested in it. What would really help would be your name on a published research paper. You have to make sure that you show them why exactly your qualified for admission. You have to act like you're 100% sure you want to be a doctor.

how much would it help being published?
