So I'm taking the Jan. 28 test, and I wanted to know how important it would be to study vocabulary for critical reading.

Thanks.

Not at all Important! Cramming words in your brain during the last few days won't work and will only confuse you. You can get almost all SC questions right without knowing the meanings of most of the words. SC strategies are really effective, try them.

could u post some of those strategies!?

Well, Yeah I could but most of them are copyrighted and I don't want to post them. You could either buy the books or get them from people who've already finished the SAT. Xiggi's SAT prep advice on this forum is also very helpful, go through that as well. I am really sorry I could not be of more help in this regard. :(

Hm... well since your SAT is coming up so quickly, there's not a whole lot you can do.

20 days is a good timeframe to get a lot done if your willing to put in the time

It isn't really that vital to getting a good score. I think when doing the sentence completions, it's more which ones don't fit. You can also do the bad or good connotation thing. Don't over analyze this section. Go through it quick.

But the thing is, there are a lot of words that appear a great deal... since I've started to study vocabulary for the last few months, I've only acquired several dozen new words, but I find them routinely on practice tests... I guess you should do what you can. Is the RC your weakest area, or what?

I do Spelling and Vocabulary, so that section is easy for me. I think learning words, especially, would be a waste of time. I really do think that.

I'm better at math...

RC is my weakest area. For my schools, I'm about 25th percentile in it, and I want to break 700. I'm decent at lit/english, but not at multiple choice tests. I'm an essay kinda guy for RC.
