How important is the cum laude society?

In top university admissions? I ask this because i go to a private high school and have a 3.9 gpa 4.5 weighted but may not be a member because during my freshmen year a teacher thought my friend and I copied each others papers, which we didn't. But that incident may have an effect on membership so I was wondering if being a member of the cum laude society really matters?

excuse me

the what?

check your spelling

^ Haiku,

Cum Laude is Latin for "with honors".

The Cum Laude Society: The Cum Laude Society is an organization that honors scholastic achievement at secondary institutions, similar to the Phi Beta Kappa Society, which honors scholastic achievements at the university level. (Wiki)

Sorry, OP, I'm no help.

Top schools' admissions are driven by your demonstrated academic excellence and ability to contribute to the college community. While some HS level honors are linked to academics, it's understood that they vary from site to site --- so NO, membership in any particular society isn't going to help/hurt you per se.

NHS wasn't a big deal at my HS. I wasn't even invited: must have missed the recruiting mtg or something LOL. It didn't bother me -- was one of four who got admitted to Ivies, eventually matriculated at an HYP college.

Cum Laude Society is good for at least one thing - it's an indicator that you are in the top 10% of your class (presumably a private school that doesn't rank).

Thanks for the advice T26E4 and Fireflyscout. Its good to know it doesn't really matter. I have a 3.9 unweighted so I think it should be pretty obvious to colleges that I'm top 10% I think my guidance counsellor will mention it in her letter somewhere too :)
