do my interview chances drop badly if i dun submit by december 15? do i need to submit both my commonapp and supplement byv december 15?

With the ED application, some in my daughter's school got an interview even though they submitted the application the last day it was due. My daughter submitted it earlier and did not get one. I don't think this matters much because my husband is a HUP employee. It seemed as though everyone else did get an interview regardless of when their app was submitted. I think it would be better to make sure your application is the best it can be rather than rushed to be done in order to get the interview deadline.

i think it depends on where you live. If there are a ton of alumni in the area, then the "deadline" probably isn't important (like in my case). However, it is probably more important if there are few alumnis in the area to give interviews.

I submitted an ED app on Nov 1st and did NOT get an interview, but I did speak with some people when I was visiting penn so maybe they decided i didn't need a formal interview....

actually, you can still turn it in early an keep it "high quality." I was wondering the same thing for early, and they said that if you just submit form 1A by the date (which is like basic info), then that's enough to be within that suggested date. I got an interview for early doing this.

i turned mine in literally the day it was due (for ED) and i got one, so as i think someone mentioned, i think it just has to do with availability of alumni in the area.

Can some body pls explain what is this interview thing? Is this part of screening for admission or is it after the student has been notified of acceptance? What is this interview for, please....

The interview is part of screening for admission. It's really casual, not a big deal, and kinda interesting if you have a good interviewer. As for the dec. 15 deadline, I don't think its too important. For ED, I turned in my from 1A by the interview deadline and submitted the rest of my app after the interview deadline and still got an interview. I think its entirely dependent upon the applicant to interviewer ratio in your area.
