Say there is one B+ first quarter and one B- second quarter. One in calc and the other in physics. Will these two grades jeopardize my chances of getting into these schools? Other than these 2 grades, I have never had anything in the B-range on my high school transcript. How much weight do these schools put on the mid-year report? Should I have my counselor include a note or anything?

Realistically, those grades (not necessarily the B+, but the B- more so) will probably disadvantage you relative to other applicants whose mid-year grades are higher.

But the thing is, those *are * your grades. There’s not really anything you can do about it now. And what would a note from your guidance counselor even say? “The reason CookieMonster85 got B’s in two classes this fall is that he earned less than 90% of the points available, but still at least 80% of them.”

And why in the world did you think it was necessary to start a second thread on the same topic, in the very same forum, less than 14 hours after you’d created the first one (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1451729-bad-mid-year-report.html)?
