How important are first semester senior grades? Is a B+ or two really that harmful for a previously perfect record of A's? Can an obviously heavier class load cushion the damage these grades might cause? I wish I could assure some of my friends (and myself) that the first B is not the end of the world...

A B+ or two is not likely to do any harm at all. What colleges don't want is to see is previous A students getting C's and D's or dropping courses left and right. Truth be told, plenty of students with a B+ or
two even before senior year still get into Princeton. The place is not all
straight A students. On the other hand, if all you bring to the admission decision table is a straight A average, there is going to be lots of competition for your seat.

Really? I've always suspected that colleges don't care too much about a few slips during second semester senior year, but that applies for first semester too? What a relief! Thanks!

Yay! I have been so worried about this; I know I will get a B in AP English and possibly another B in Government if I don't study my *** off.
