I think I just screwed everything up, and I don’t know what to do. I got deferred EA from Princeton, and had my AP Calc exam the next day. I just got it back, and it did not go well. I’m going to end up with a B or B+ in the class for the semester, and I’m absolutely devastated that I let the deferral crush me to the point that I ruined my A in that class. I have never gotten a B before, and I am taking 6 APs this year and self-studying 1 other one. I have As in all of my other classes.
Are my chances completely gone for top schools (i.e. UVA, Cornell, Yale, Duke, etc.)??? Please help. What can I do???
Sorry I can’t answer the question too well, but I think that you would be in for a rude awakening at those schools. If you are crushed over a B, you would have a tough time in college. I’m afraid you won’t always be perfect. Learn to deal with a little failure. One B or B+ is not a big deal.
My goodness, the colleges won’t worry about a grade in the B range. The semester grade is not the end of the year grade anyway-colleges know that. Time to get a life!
Thank you for the help @CollegeMan91 and @lostaccount - I guess I am acting a little hysterical. I apologize - I usually am a lot more rational. I just had a friend tell me that I’m basically “screwed” since I will have a B or B+ in this one class, and I feel horrible about the whole thing. I know I was capable of doing so much better - I just hope that one grade doesn’t tank me.
if you’re smart enough to go to an Ivy league school then you ought to be smart enough to appraise the quality of advice you’re getting from these friends
My dear, everyone is screwed when they are deferred at an Ivy League. One B is not going to make the slightest bit of difference. You need to be much more realistic, and start getting used to the idea that you probably are not going to Princeton. None of your schools are not going to admit youBe ause of a B. If you don’t get admitted its because you are not a fit for that school. Soory to be blunt, but you need to look at the facts.
@Lindagaf I am well aware of the fact that my chances of getting into Princeton are extremely slim, but as I stated in my question, I am concerned about all of the schools to which I applied. Obviously, many are extremely competitive and its impossible to know whether or not I will be accepted. But its worth a shot right? The fact that I will be getting a B+ for the semester (an 89 no less) just really jarred me. I apologize if it seems like I was overreacting!
Thank you all though for making me feel better/come to my senses
You will do well college1915. Be prepared to get into your top match choice. Any of those others above will be a pleasant surprise if you get in. And remember the unofficial mantra of CC…where you go is not who you will be.
@Lindagaf Thank you so much. I appreciate it!! And thats a great mantra
