How important is the portfolio for architecture?

Well, i've been working on my portfolio for close to two months now and it's not too great. It's okay, i guess, but it could be better. I was wondering how much this would hurt me.

My sat's is: 1940 (610 reading 680 math and 650 writing) and my GPA is a 3.9.

I'm applying to Syracuse, Cornell , RPI, Pratt, Parsons
i'm applying to more, but these are the ones that require a portfolio. So, i was wondering if i still have a shot at these schools even though my portfolio isn't that good.

Thanks for the responses !!!

The portfolio is very important. Probably the single most important aspect of applying to architecture programs.

:/ okay thanks. Does not having a strong portfolio disqualify me from being admitted?

Well at Pratt, I know if you have over a 3.7 GPA you are not required to submit a portfolio for the B.Arch. However at Syracuse and Cornell I know the biggest element of the process is the portfolio. Not sure about Parsons and RPI.

However, if you want, you can post your portfolio and we can advise you on the best way to present it based on your work.
