How important is the pre-app deadline?

I was stupid. I thought that all of the app was due Jan 1. I only just found out that the supplement was due December 15 (how weird is that? was the essay due then too? Why do they even bother having the Jan 1 common app deadline?) If I submit the pre-app today and the essay before Jan 1, will they still read my application, or will I have no chance? I just want to know whether it's even worth giving them 65 dollars anymore.

Thanks!

Middlebury extended the pre-app deadline to January 1st. Even when the Pre-App was due on Dec 15th, the supplemental essay and graded essay were not due until Jan 1.

i was stupid too :\ i m doing the pre app right now :D
i hope its not that big of a deal :x
yeah it is weird! its like they just want to make it difficult for us, to see if we really want to go to their school
well i do - i hope they know that :] i m just glad they extended the deadline :]

I was late too, e-mailed them, they said I wasn't alone so they were extending the deadline... thank god! I still feel like an a**hole, though. :/

do you think they'll give a tiny advantage to those who applied and met the preapp deadline?

Well.. I have to honestly answer no I don't think they will. After all, they moved the deadline. However.. I would love to hope they did if only because S met the deadlines. :-)

Personally, I think people freaking over the deadlines are more worry than need be. While there are rules and yes they should be followed, I think if there is good faith efforts, things not being there exactly on the first or whatever the date is not going to toss your whole application out the window. Remember there was a time when it was about the postmark, and not the delivery date.

The pre-app supplement at the top says postmark by Dec 15, but I assume this is just if you are mailing it, you can also apply on-line anytime on the 15th. We are expecting to hear from another school on the 15th and prefer not to file the app and pay the fee if we don’t have to.

Marksc--

You’ve picked up on a thread that was started last year AFTER the 15th. At this point in the process THIS year, no one is late – yet. Totally understand the fee thing… hopefully, any news you’re getting on the 15th will be good news.

i understand this is last years thread but, what is the preapp? i thought middlebury did not require a supplement? is the preapp the ‘supplement’ on the commonapp?

nevermind! i found it, but thanks for the headups guys =D

Huh? I’m quite confused. So the supplement is the same thing as Pre-App? or is there something else that I have to do by December 15th…?
