I'm from Washington State, and although I'm appling to a few California schools (CMC, Pomona), the rest I'm applying to are on the East Coast (Brown, Georgetown SFS, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Middlebury). Will being from Washington matter at all in admissions? Just wondering.
Thanks

I doubt it. First of all, I've heard that state of origin is a very minor factor in the process. Second, Washington is not a significantly underrepresented state (think Alaska, Puerto Rico, rural Montana, etc.).

Such a general question is hard to answer in a way that would help you. Penn for example has posted the information by state.......you can look this up for the schools you are interested in.

Yeah, I'm wondering about this too. I am from Arkansas and did ED to Johns Hopkins. I looked at the Penn site with the state distributions and Arkansas only had 4 people. Geographic residence is listed as being "considered" for most colleges, so I wonder if being from an underrepresented state will help me out.
