How important is to have honors/AP classes?? for colleges/universities

Kinda important since colleges sees you are challenging yourself instead of taking the asy road out..:P

Gl and Hope I helped :P

Very, very, very, very, very important.

important but won't make you "stand out" from others

Very. If you don't have H/AP classes, then that means you are lazy or aren't smart enough. The first qualification for any top school is that you've taken the most rigorous courseload at your school.

Pretty important.

Important for the Top notch schools.

I know a bunch of people who didn't take a bunch of APs, but still got into UCB/LA/SD

It is a plus if you have AP courses when you apply. But, colleges also look at your score and many won't transfer credit if the AP score is below 3. Even then, it might not be a good idea to transfer AP credit if the course is in your major area. You would probably be better off taking the courses at the college anyway so you are sure to have the prerequisite knowledge for subsequent courses. For example, if you are an engineering, econ, or science major you should take the calculus sequence offered at the college even though you may have a 5 on the AP calc exam.

Another option would be to take courses at your local college while you are in high school. That looks good, too.

It is very important because univerities see that you want to expand your studies deeper, and they will see that you are a studyiing and a dedicated person
