How carefully do they examine these? Say if I have A's in the subject area at school but score 730 on the SAT subject test, does that make my grades less valid? (I am interested in HYP level schools)

SAT Subject Tests show how good you are at something on a standarized scale. Say that a student is taking physics honors, and gets a 95. If that student gets a 500 on the Physics Subject Test, it shows that compared to the rest of the world, this student doesn’t know physics that well. A 730 depends on the type of test. If it was physics then the student got about 52 out of 75 questions. That’s not that spectacular. But if it was math level 1 then the student got about 44 out of 50. This is a pretty good score. It depends how it affects your application on the type of test you took since the score means different things on different tests, because of the curves.
