Just how important are college interviews? I wasnt really planning on doing any... but I'm still unsure.

Does anyone have any information as to percentages of admitted students who did/did not do an interview? At schools like Wesleyan, Bard or Skidmore?

Or how about schools that are SAT optional. Like Sarah Lawrence, Bowdoin??

If any of you have done interviews at any of the above schools, or even any other school... what was it like? Relaxed/not so relaxed? Typical length?? Any information on interviews would be appreciated!

They seem to be very important. MIT sent me mail, strongly recomending me to have an alumni interview and showed that twice the percentage of people with interviews got is as people who chose not to interview. I would assume top schools conduct business similarly, and most recomend interviewing. While I doubt the interview will help you make up for stuff like grades and scores, it is a way for the college to make sure you are legit. However, a bad interview can mess you up.

When all the tangibles (scores, grades) are consistent with other applicants, the intangibles (essays, recommendations, interviews) set you apart. If your colleges value interviews, and you can present yourself well, then you should do it.
