How importanty is the writing score?

Hey all,
I just got my June SAT scores back and I got the following:
Math:790
Reading:760
Writing:640

I heard that colleges don't look at the writing score as much. Is this true? Would they very much frown upon a 640? I'm looking at Ivy League schools. Would they see the 640 as a really bad blemish upon my application? (I'm guessing yes, but I just want to know how much they look at the writing score)

just get it up, your set with the other two sections

so study writing a bit this summer and hit it out of the part in october

but to answer your question different colleges look at it different amounts

like try applying to Hamilton college with a 640 and your done but other places its not such a bad thing

h

Some colleges look at your writing scores now.

most do not. i have the same thing (640 W). don't worry.

Two that I know for sure:

West Point is looking into it start with c/o '08
University of Florida is looking at it starting wtih c/o '09

They also now require the essay for the ACT

yeah I have the same question as well.....

I think they look at it. It isn't uber important but it definitely counts and i think that having a good writing score just makes you look better.
Its not like a 640 is the end of the world or that horrible though. And with your other scores so high i am sure admissions will look at it as a matter of you werent very familiar with the test format

"How IMPORTANTLY is the Writing Section?"

I would say it is rather IMPORTANT for you, lol.

actually there wasn't supposed to be a "y" at the end of it at all. it was just supposed to say "important". I don't know how the "y" got there
