How impossible for me?

So I'm a white male from MA, attending one of the most competative public schools in the state. I visited and love UVA, but everyone says I have zero chance (due to lame GPA). They are probably right, but I'm making this topic anyway and I applied (with a prayer) to the school nonetheless.

My letters of recommendation are really good I think (at least my teacher ones, my guidance counselor I'm not sure about). As far as essays, they were pretty solid.

Do I even have like a 1% chance of being accepted?

well… sorry if this sounds blunt.

your gpa is too low – a 3.0 weighted? And your highest grades every year are basically in Gym class. Yea, I don’t see any hope for acceptance. You are applying as an OOS applicant so its also harder because of that. Your SATs aren’t great, your math score is low.

If you really want to come to UVa, then I’d say your best shot at admittance is to go to another college, do amazingly well there, and then attempt to transfer.

Yeah don’t sweat it.

The GPA sucks, but it is a very competative school (3rd best in state).

Unless you are a Kennedy, I think your chances are slim. Sorry.

Eh, I’ll take my chances. Collegeboard says 2% of the admitted folks had around a 3.0 in HS…so thats a little hope lol

Yes, you are right Champ55! You know, if you don’t try, then you never know! Good luck to you and do great on your essays. UVA really looks at the entire individual and not just #'s, so you’ve got a chance.

I hope you realize that the vast majority of that 2% were recruited athletes and HEAVY donating alumni children. I’m not trying to get you down, but no one in that 2% was in your situation…

can’t hurt to try, but OOS 1970 and 3.0??? You would need a 2100+ to counterbalance that GPA, but go for who knows.
