I applied to intern for my US congresman in either DC our locally during the summer before Sr year. How good would this look for Ivies and Underivies (Duke, NW, MIT)? Would this along with a 1400 SAT (out of 1600) and a 32 ACT (april 9, hopefully) help me stand out?

my understanding is that most interns on the hill stock the fridge, answer mail, and give tours. Seems like a “check box” a lot of people in DC hit because it’s the “thing to do” but doesn’t actually give much relevant experience. It does however, allow you to meet people who might be able to help you out later.

As far as colleges, obviously it is better than sitting on your butt, but I don’t think it would be anything special.
