<p>Everyone is saying that a 12 is formulaic, but the truth is, if it was that easy, then anyone could get it, thus no point for the essay-portion.</p>
<p>Therefore a 12 = impressive.</p>
<p>i don't think the new SAT has been out long enough for colleges to get a <i>really</i> good idea of how the essay portion correlates w/ the grades in fresh. comp. lit</p>
<p>A 12 might be impressive as far as admissions, but it is still only a matter of being impressive in a skill that I feel has little application to college or professional life.</p>
<p>I honestly don't think a 12 is impressive at all on colleges. SAT writing is all about writing with a certain formula- nothing else. Simply by presenting an intro, 3 examples, and conclusion that fills up 2 pages gives you at least an 11. I don't see anything hard in that.</p>
<p>another good strategy: if you're writing on the ACT, be sure to bash the SAT and vice versa</p>

<p>the content isn't hard, but i know some of my friends have had trouble with the time limit. however, we have an excellent English teacher and so far, two students out of four (the only ones who took the SAT), including me, have gotten 12s. it can't be too easy or more people here would be posting with their 12s. it's more of a test of how clear thinking and working under pressure than anything else.</p>
