The title summarizes my question.
I was wondering, would it be impressive on my college application if I did well on the MCAT, GRE, ACS Organic Chemistry test, or something like that?
Even if the MCAT itself wouldn’t be impressive, is there another test taken typically by college undergraduates that has been shown to be impressive?
You really need to focus on the metrics at hand- your grades, scores, the rigor of your current curriculum.
I won’t even comment on the audacity of thinking you are going to do well on the MCAT as a HS kid…
Not at all. The idea would probably make most AOs’ heads spin. Your ability to cram for standardized tests is sufficiently measured by the ones geared for HS students (SAT/ACT/Subject tests/APs/IB/etc).
I see that you are trying to compete in the ICO or IPO and are struggling with citizenship v residency issues- that must be very frustrating.
Far better to truly understand your college targets and what they DO look for.
Heads spin? Lol, they’d wonder what you were thinking they want…or worse, IF you’re thinking.
Not impressive at all. They’d find it annoying and desperate. Focus your energy on something else that shows you’re not a metric-obsessed person.
I think your time would be better spent making sure you have the best possible application you can with SAT/ACT scores, SAT2s , a rigorous course load, and being a great part of your school committee.
Finding the right schools and information regarding your situation is crucial. You should be intensively researching those things.
Also, is cost an issue for college? Are your parents willing and able to pay for college costs?
It would show you’re trying to hard to impress.
I know I probably wouldn’t do super great lol, I was just wondering if it’s something to consider. But apparently, it’s a really bad idea, which makes sense.
Thanks for the feedback!
Trying to do activities without a citizenship (or even being a permanent resident) IS very frustrating, so it’s hard to find activities that I can even ATTEMPT in the first place, much less excel at.
Are you at a school in the US? Then there are scads of opportunities right there!
