I'm a Senior, I took the SAT last year but slept 5 hours and partied the night before so while I was testing I was a little "buzzed and other stuff" ya I know I was STUPID and I got a 1500, so I'm sure just by re-taking it I'll get at least a 1700, but my test is December 5 and I really, really, really will do whatever it takes to get at least a 2000 on the test, so please I know a lot of you got better than this so please recommend any books, and how much and how often I should study.

I also took the ACT last year and got a 24, I bombed the Science section it was ridiculous, any way I really want to get at least a 30, I have til December 12 to study and I really, really, really will do whatever it takes to get at least a 30 on the test, so please I know a lot of you got better than this so please recommend any books and how much and how often I should study

I have 2 months and if I get a 2000 and a 30 (or around these scores) I'm positive I'll get into UC Berkeley and UCLA because I have pretty good grades, I'm ELC, and my Personal statement is pretty good and I'm hispanic......PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU

ACT - THE REAL ACT test prep and How to Increase your reading score with 3 minutes a day; two great prep books. If you are a diligent person, review every day, time yourself, you will definately increase your ACT score - should be able to get at or near your goal of 30…but practice and timing are the key to a successful ACT.

thank you, I will buy those books tomorrow and start studying asap, what’s the sticky?

Use the McGraw-Hill book for the practice test, coz then u will probably find the actual SAT easier… and do ur last few practice tests (a week to test day) from the College Board Study Guide… even the online course is extremely helpful.
I think that should help… best of luck!

Sticky are forum threads that have long lasting relevance such that they are permanently affixed to the top of thread lists. For what you are looking for, look for SAT Preparation sub-forums and find “Xiggi SAT prep advice” thread.

Basically, the advice involves a suggestion to do a lot of repeated taking of the actual SAT tests under actual test condition, and afterwards carefully go over all the answers to all the questions you took. The more you do it, the more you are accustomed to the kind of questions being asked and the theory is that it will become easier for you to answer these questions. For this, you need to get hold of actual tests like the SAT Blue Book and get hold of solution with good explanation to the tests in the Blue Book. For ACT, there is The Real ACT mentioned above. One thing it stresses is doing the test is not enough, you need to go over the answer and carefully analyze the solution to the questions both the right and the wrong ones you got.
