How influential will SAT Subject Tests be in my chances at top UCs?

Hey guise.

So, back in May I got a 600 on Biology-E which isn't amazing but it's passable (keep in mind I have an SAT Reasoning Score of 2030, a weighted GPA of 4.05 and EC's out the wazoo).

I also got a 540 on Math 2. Which is real bad.

I'm taking it again this Saturday. I've already submitted apps to colleges, but I believe scores can be sent afterwards (right?).

I'm hoping to get at least 600 on my Math 2 retake but if in the worst case I don't, and I only do marginally better or around the same, how detrimental is that to my chances at the top UCs (esp. Cal, UCLA, UCSD, Davis)?

Also keep in mind this is the last year Subject Tests are required...will readers perhaps weigh them less, especially when its next to a decent SAT Reasoning score and great EC's?

Thanks for the opinions!!

I don’t think it will kill you for SD/Davis. Might have a negative affect on LA/Cal chances

Thank you.
Other opinions? :)

I believe SAT II’s where the reason my didn’t get into UCLA (2030/610/580. Same GPA as yours. Pretty good EC’, but no wazoo involved…). That and maybe not enough course"rigor", and I believe those are related. Her school didn’t offer much. UCLA is the only school that lists its subject test averages. I’ll see if I can find a link. She got into all the other UC’s you listed, but that was '08

730 and 680 for the two subject scores for admits… Interesting info. Where did your daughter end up going to? & strange she got into Berkeley but not UCLA? Stuff like that tends to happen a lot from my understanding.

Strange your daughter and I had such identical numbers what with the 610/580 and 2030 with a ~4.05 gpa.

To anyone it may concern; I took 2 practice tests today and got 690 and 650  Im going to take one more out of the Barron’s book (possibly a little different, who knows) after dinner to see what I get.

just calculated 10th & 11 GPAs

4.01 weighted
3.71 unweighted

more input would be awesome !!

Just retook it today, I’m feeling ~620-650

Hey, I don’t mean to be harsh but, from my experience, these scores won’t cut it for top UCs (unless you have a brilliant GPA, tons of ECs, etc.) I had about the same stats as you, when I applied to the UCs as a freshman. I got into UCSC, none of the others (I didn’t apply to UCM and UCR). I’m now at a California Community College, with a stellar GPA. You can get guaranteed admission to all UCs (except LA and Cal) when you attain a 3.0 or higher. Depending on your major, you’ll also have better chances at the top 2 UCs than as a freshman applicant. SATs aren’t even required for transfer students. If you really want to get into a top UC and don’t make it this time around, I strongly suggest you don’t give up hope and try again in two years as a transfer student (you’ll save yourself/your parents a ton of money too)!

You had over a 4.0 and a 2000+ SAT and you didnt get into Davis or Irvine? lol that doesnt sound right to me considering they both accept like 1 in every 2 applicants
