Would having a letter of recommendation from a former Princeton graduate who is currently a college professor be for a student who has stellar stats otherwise?

Not influential. But that’s just my opinion.

If the rec can shed some NEW light on you, it may be worth considering. If not, it’s a waste of time and will actually detract from your app.

“And the elephant in the room is that you are going to do terribly on your sealing of the envelope.”

yeah, it’s a recommendation highlighting the research I did over the summer. Basically, what I’m asking is does the fact that he is a relatively important Princeton Alum have any extra bearing?

Probably not unless he is a public figure and/or donating to the school substantially.
