<p>Greetings all,
Though I am merely a lowly junior, ^.^ I’ve been cruising around college searchings and this website for a while now; I would appreciate it if someone could answer my questions (current Amherst student, parent, fellow searchers, etc.). First, how intellectual is Amherst? How much do you guys enjoy discussing ideas, philosophy, politics, worldviews, schoolwork, etc.? If the student body as a whole is not so intellectual, then could I still find pockets of people who are, or mingle frequently with those from the other colleges who might be?
Second, how is the philosophy department at Amherst? I plan to major in philo, so it would be helpful if I knew.
