Hi everyone,

I know this may sound a bit stupid of me to ask, but like what the title says, how intense is the beginning jogging class at UNC? I was told by a friend that this class isn't actually for beginners at all. Can someone tell me how hard you thought the class was and how much they expect from you?

It probably depends on the TA, but it’s not intense. Intermediate jogging is what you want to avoid. They do stadiums in Kenan stadium.

Like jessimo093 said, it really does depend on your TA but if you are out of shape, the class could be difficult. I would email certain TAs ahead of time to see how hard their class is before signing up for one on Connect Carolina (thats what I did).

I had to do stadiums for beginning jogging. My TA was pretty intense. Wish I took Walking with the basketball players to be honest.

It seems like a lot of lfits depend on the TA…I had yoga and pilates and absolutely hated it because my TA was mean and obnoxious, even though that was one of the most sought out ones. Lfit can be very hit or miss.

That’s unfortunate to hear. It’s too bad they still haven’t updated the staff for any of the jogging classes. Will they be doing that anytime soon? I’d like to know before my CTOPS which will be on July 12-13. Also to ask how difficult their classes are, should I just ask what kinds of activities are normally done? It just seems weird emailing a professor, “Hey I’m interested in taking your class and I was just wondering how difficult it is for students taking it?” I just find it a bit awkward asking such a question. Any TA’s that any of you guys would recommend?

My beginning jogging class literally consisted of “go jog wherever you want and come back here to check in with me in 30 minutes.” Complete joke. That was, I think, Spring 2007 though.
