How is Adelphi University?

I'm looking for a change of scenery from living in Miami. I'm applying and think I have a very good chance of getting into Adelphi University in Garden City,New York. I took a tour of the campus and I love it. Anyone else heard anything about the school or goes there want to put some input?

No one had anything? :p

I know that if you talk about Shakespeare & Law in your interview the dean of the honors college will hound you like no one’s business (she sent me a handwritten letter by priority mail!)… And give you a nice tidy scholarship…
But seriously, they have an accelerated Law degree program which looks pretty nice– basically it means you have guaranteed enrollment into New York Law University (I think that’s what it was called). They’re also located in what the dean called a “privileged” neighborhood– tudor houses, upper crust, etc. They’re also about an hour away from Manhattan, via public transport.
Also, my stepsister went to Hofstra and used to have sorority events with Adelphi– she said they were nice. She also said that she didn’t much like the area because there wasn’t much to do that didn’t involve taking a train to the city.
That’s really about all I can remember. They seem to have this big grudge against NYU, as I’ve never heard anyone badmouth them as much as the dean did, but they give some amazing financial aid.

Thanks. That’s good to know. I would need a lot of financial aid too.

It is BEAUTIFUL! I just got accepted for the fall of 2012 and I cannot wait. Although it is only my second acceptance out of possibly 9, I already know I am most likely going there. Although it is a private school, they give out on average 20,000 dollars to each student. The people there are sweet, the classes are small, and it just seem like a perfect fit for me.

I know several kids who go there. Everybody says how beautiful the campus. The Garden City area is very nice. It’s also nice that it’s about a 30-45 drive to the city so you really do get the best of both worlds. One thing, though, is that everybody tells me how small the dorms are so if that’s important to you I would definitely check that out first. They give good scholarships, too.
