Atlanta is located in Midtown business district, the nice part of Atlanta. Ga State is located in downtown Atlanta which is not nearly as nice.

There are a lot of activities to do if students have time and money. There always football game every other Saturday. Of course there is always event in DramaTech. I always enjoyed college of computing guest series (Microsoft VP, Intel VP, etc) when I was at Tech.

Fox Theatre and High museum of Art are very close by. Atlantic station (center of yippie Atlanta) is about one miles north and there always something over there (like taste of atlanta, beach volleyball, summer concert, etc). Piedmont Park is also close by. Lenox Mall and Philip Plaza, the fashion capital of Southeast. There is small Chinatown in Chamblee. All can be get from MARTA. Of course, it is nice to have car in Atlanta to get those places. Atlanta is not walkable city. Also, city living is expensive and it is always nice to have some extra money.

I can sympathy with atreen. So if money is tight and it is cheaper to go your in-state college, that’s maybe the way to go. Michigan state, although not as good as Ga Tech, is still fine school for engineering.
