How is Chicago's engineering department? I'm thinking about applying regular decision this year; speaking of that, when is their deadline for regular? I am wanting to major in biomedical engineering btw.

Our engineering program is probably the best in the country. It is, however, very competitive to get in. I have a few friends majoring in biomedical engineering, and most of them got into other top schools like MIT but decided to come here because of our school's great reputation for engineering. Needless to say, they're all very pleased with their decisions, although it seems like they're constantly working.

Deadline for regular is January 1st. Good luck!

So competitive, in fact, that in most years no applicants are accepted at all. You might be more confident applying to the undergraduate College, instead.

Research your stuff man. No engineering at Chicago

What? phuriku just said it's very good...?

Don't listen to him. Chicago's engineering is great; gbh875 is just bitter that he wasn't accepted into the program. Go back to your pathetic MIT engineering program, gbh875, you'll never be good enough for Chicago's.

search chicago college of engineering on google

it has one of the nicest web sites in the ivy league..oh yea chicago is inthe ivy league if you werent aware.

Yeah, phuriku's right. Sorry for trying to mess with you Predator.

Absolutely, the engineering program is probably the best in the country ;)

Hey, I'm applying for engineering, too! Have you visited their buildings yet? Completely invisible- you have to spin around 3 times in front of the Reg, and then a slide opens to let you into the underground headquarters. Very cool.

Yeah man! Plus if you apply to Eng. School you don't have to write that lame crazy prompt! You write your main essay about your favorite aspects of engineering and be sure to mention the UChicago School of Engineering in it at least 32 times!

You also might have heard of the famous GSB - Chicago Graduate School of Biomedical-Engineering. If you become an engineering student at Chicago, you can work with some of the advanced graduate students here in the GSB, something other schools just can't offer.

dont be phased by the large white "BUSINESS" on the website...unfortunately the webmasters arent perfect at designing stuff.

Why do I somehow get the feeling half the posts in this thread by other people are all sarcastic?...I just asked a simple question guys. No need for these smartass answers. Also, I wasn't aware Chicago is in the Ivy League....because it's not...

hahahaha wow guys don't be so mean...

predator, in case you haven't figured it out, chicago doesn't have an engineering school or department.

Okay...I was serious the first time. Chicago has no engineering program. And more and than half of the posts were sarcastic. With the exception of my first one, they all were. Chicago is really heavy on theoretical stuff and has no pre-professional programs.

point is ...research a school before you decide to apply there.

But Chicago really is in the Ivy League... or soon will be.

Earlier this year, the other Ivies got really ****ed off at Brown for their "hippie-like, druggie" behavior, and decided that the behavior of Brown was not professional enough for them to be in the Ivy League. Thus, they voted on a new school to incorporate into the Ivy League, and they chose Chicago.

this thread is ****ing hilarious

Yes I hadn't decided yet to apply there, that's why I was asking here if their engineering program was any good.
