Hey guys Im an international students who just got accepted at Cornell! I am a proffessional writer and decided to study in the US to further enhance my writing skills. (My home country has nothing similar to a Creative Writing Major). So what are your thoughts on the English department of Colgate? Every piece of advice will be highly appreciated! Right now Im deciding between Emory, Colgate and Sarah Lawrence. Any thougths on those schools?
“I’m an international student who just got accepted at Cornell”
Cornell?
hahah sorry mistake. I meant Colgate. Didn’t get accepted at Cornell
Firstly, check out a USA Today article, “The 10 Best American Colleges for Writers.” Emory finished first. So that’s not bad. Personally, I’d weigh the article, but I’d give just as much weight to overall fit.
Despite being far apart, as colleges, Colgate and Emory have the most in common within the group.
Colgate: An especially beautiful campus in an authentic countryside location. Rural beyond the village it’s located in. Full academics, with the exception of engineering. A full sports program. You should have a sense of adventure regarding snow.
Emory: I know less about, but I still know it to be a complete university with many positive attributes. Obviously the writing program is great. In Atlanta, one of the larger cities in the south.
Sarah Lawrence: More intensely focused. Smallest enrollment in the group. May have an artsy feel. A bit of a gender imbalance. A short train ride to NYC, a fantastic city, to say the least.
Good luck.
