I might pick this major at UPenn SEAS, what is it like? What do you do in class?

… Er, programming?
Are you asking about CS in general or that program in particular?
The Math/CS forum might also be useful: <a href=“Math/Computer Science Majors - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/math-computer-science-majors/

I’m asking about the major and if it is worth it. I can’t take Physics because my school don’t offer it.

You can look at the major requirements and course descriptions on the school’s website. That should give you a pretty good sense of what you do in the major.
In general, there’s a lot of programming. There are also usually a number of classes that deal with logic and design, as well as math.
In terms of “is it worth it,” CS has some of the best job prospects for graduates, so that’s a plus. Also, if you start out in CS and change your mind, it’s really common to change majors in college, so don’t stress yourself out too much.

But I haven’t taken Physics or AP Calc and I don’t have ANY science/engineering ECs that are strong enough. I am currently attending the Biomedical Summer Academy at Penn that got all 4 of the upcoming Penn freshmen in my school into Penn even though they all applied for Biomed or Pre-med. Would I struggle like hell if I major in CS? I was told to major in CAS instead.

What is CAS? Who told you to major in that?

Physics isn’t necessary, and most of the math in intro CS courses is basic algebra. I don’t think it would be problematic. I started my CS courses with no previous programming experience.

College of Art and Sciences at Penn.
The other 2 problems are, my main ECs, the impressive ones anyway, are liberal arts based like helping group of chinese immigrants with Chinese/English because they struggle with both, helping this kid in my class with homework, projects and translation, and also extensive dedication to the school online newspaper. All of which will not help me write an supplement essay for CS about why I picked SEAS (Engineering at Penn) and the major possibly if I do apply for it.

And my 2 main subject tests are under 700.
