How is Cornell for IR/gov? And how's it compare to Tufts?

I want to go into international relations, and Cornell has always been my dream school (I want to apply ED) but they only have a minor for IR. I'd still love to attend and major in gov. but I've been having doubts lately in combination with fear of getting rejected which I probably will be :( so I've been looking a lot into Tufts lately. So how is Cornell for gov/IR? How do you think Cornell compares to Tufts in general? Campus, opportunities, food, financial aid, etc etc.

…Tufts is pretty much best in IR. If you’re going for major, Tufts is probably a better choice for you…

Yeah, I agree. Tufts.

go with the fit and the money at this point. If you are serious about doing IR stuff, then you will need to go to grad school anyway.

i’m an ILR major with minors in IR and Law&Society.

IR is pretty intense here…it requires 8 courses o_O! and 2 languages (or 1 with more than proficiency)

i’m not familiar with tufts…but cornell is pretty global…plenty of international courses available even though they might not fall under an “IR” department or even “GOVT”
such as courses in ILR and CALS :)

The IR minor is pretty intense for a “minor”. It’s probably harder than some majors. It seems like each year the IR center at Cornell does a lot to drastically improve the program since it is fairly new.

Ok thanks everyone! I was just a bit worried about it since it is a minor.

it being a minor just means the government department gets to keep more funding :stuck_out_tongue:

IR at cornell is very multi-disciplinary and cross-colleged…
