So, I’m looking into CPP because the schools near me are expensive private schools and I’d like an option of a cheaper school. I heard Pomona is not a really good city at all?? I wouldn’t be living there because I live around 15 minutes away so I guess I shouldn’t be too concerned but I’m still wondering about the safety around the campus then. I was looking into University of Redlands but the tuition is crazy and I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford it. Should the fact that Pomona is like that put me off of applying to CPP or should I go for it since I live in Riverside?
My sister goes to CPP and we visit Pomona pretty often regardless. We go there for a lot of entertainment stuff like eating out or going to concerts. I would say that yeah there are parts of Pomona that are “bad”, but its definitely not enough that it should deter you from going to school there! The immediate area around the campus is ok and really nice. Especially if you live in Riverside, then I don’t think its a bad idea because you won’t have to be there that often and you really wont have to be around the “bad” areas.
CPP is really worth the money too, its a really great option. I hope you consider it!
@mhynnie: There are areas in Riverside which a much worse than Pomona. CPP is not in the middle or surrounded by the city of Pomona. It is west of the city separated by the 57 Freeway. It is much closer to Diamond Bar and Walnut. You would be perfectly safe attending CPP. Just use common sense when going off campus. Since you live in Riverside, you are only 30 mins away and really should visit. CPP is a great school and has much to offer.
