I always thought of it as the college I would fall back on if I couldn’t get into anything else, but recently i’ve been thinking of going because it seems like a pretty good school. I want to major in psychology and am wondering if CSUN has a good psych department and premed. Im also curious about what types of clubs there are here and how difficult it would be for someone who lives in the area to make friends at the college.
This is a little late but I can answer your questions. CSUN’s psych and med schools are both ranked in the top 100 nationally which is very good. They are on par with schools like UC Irvine and Pepperdine but without the insane tuition. However, since they are good they are impacted and most students who are admitted have around a 3.0 GPA. As far as clubs go, there are many. At the beginning of each semester there is a club fair where each club sets up a booth and you can browse and sign up for the ones you are interested in. There is also Greek life if you are interested in that. As with any college, you will make friends if you engage with the student population. If you just go to class and then go home you won’t make any friends. However, if you join clubs and talk to the people in your classes you will make friends. CSUN students are friendly and hard working. Many of us come from families that don’t have a lot of money so we may be working more than the average college student but we still find time to have fun. The best thing you can do is visit the college and see if it is right for you.
Good luck!
