How is Dartmouth's admissions process unique?

Hi,

What sets Dartmouth's admission process apart from other Ivy Leagues, and other top-notch schools? More emphasis on test scores? More emphasis on leadership? More consideration of GPA?

Thanks!

the peer letter is a bit unique/I doubt it is weighed heavily but I think the admissions staff look for smart enthusiastic people “who play well with others”

In addition to the peer rec, not having to write an extra essay for the Dartmouth supplement, if not completely unique, is pretty unusual for a high-end school.

^Unusual perhaps but not entirely unheard of. Columbia has only one essay as well. I believe what C and D do is to force you to distill your uniqueness and personality into a single portrait. Having multiple essays afford you the convenience of being able to highlight several aspects of your personality while leaving adcoms to fill up the blanks with what they’re forced to presume is good stuff.
