"“How are DePaul’s Psychology, Journalism, and Playwriting programs? Also, I was looking up DePaul on the CollegeBoard website, and under its majors it lists “Playwriting/Screenwriting”, and its definition is “Students of playwriting and screenwriting learn how to write plays for the theater and screenplays for movies. Classes cover such topics as creative writing, script development, stage or camera instructions, and the making of entire theatrical or film productions.” Is this just CollegeBoard’s description, or does DePaul’s program actually involve film/screenplays?”

Can someone please answer that^^ and this? Also, I really never chose to go out during HS, although I’ve had many opportunities-I was more focused on studying to get my transcript right, and save it all for college. Is it really HARD to find parties like you guys are making it seem @ DePaul???"

Okay, I’m answering my own question, haha. Their playwriting program is strictly plays, but they offer classes in screenplays. So it’s not officially part of the major, but if you’re interested there are some excellent workshops.

The only thing I’m familiar with at DePaul is their business school (undergrad), which is ranked 40th in the nation by businessweek. That is actually one of the reasons why I will be going to DePaul.

I received the Dean’s scholarship which offers $50,000 over four years. Without the scholarship, I would be paying roughly $120,000 over four years. With that in mind, the scholarship will still leave me with roughly $70,000 in debt upon graduation. Thus, my answer to your question would be no, it is not uncommon to have that much debt. However, the reason why I am not as worried is because the average DePaul ugrad business graduate has a starting salary of $55,000, which is 6th highest among all business schools in America. I feel that a few years of work will allow me to pay those debts.

I’d also like to add that I was offered a full-ride to ASU and a high-paying scholarship from U of A. Had I chosen one of those schools, I’d have much less debt upon graduation. However, I feel that DePaul gives me the greatest job opportunity upon graduation, and their business program is ranked 40th in the country, compared to UofA at 71 and ASU at 77. From my point of view, a better education and stellar job recruiting are what set DePaul apart from my other options.

Is anyone considering DePaul for information security or computer science? My son was accepted and we are going to visit this week. I’m wondering if anyone has feedback on these programs. He would be attending classes mostly in the Loop campus. Also, I’m wondering how good DePaul is about accepting AP credit.
His stats were 3.7 unweighted gpa and a 34 ACT/2230 SAT. They offered him a very generous merit scholarship and we live in the burbs so if worse came to worse, he could commute from home. The other college he is seriously considering is Purdue.
