I already know that it is considered one of the best engineering schools in the nation and all that. But to those who went through engineering(specifically computer engineering), how is the course load? Is it really difficult to the point where you have to study all the time and have little fun, or can you still get out and have fun and not have to study 24/7?

I'd like to know what people who attend Umich thought of the engineering (computer engineering specifically) program too. In addition to what hotctyplaya asked, how are the professors? Are there a lot of good resources for learning?

hotctyplaya - I think i've seen your name somewhere before. Did you use to run a website?

bump

Someone's got the answer to the questions.
And to thebean, I did co-own a website.

bump

hotctyplaya: nevermind, it was someone else

bump bump bump

hi,
i just visited UMich yesterday and spent a good 2 hours with an awesome tour guide (he's a junior) who is a CS major which is LSA but he still spends a lot of time in the engin. dept. Here's is some of the things that he said...

-mich engin. is no joke, when you're there you mean business. it's going to be tough but it's well worth the work
-they do a great job w/ networking and hooking you up with internships. he said they bring a lot of companies in to do recruiting and such.
-there are some really awesome professors, and of course, there are some really awful profs. so watch out, talk to ppl, know the good from the bad and schedule yer classes accordingly
-great resources. They're THERE, whether your looking for tutors, talk w/ profs, help w/ technical writing...make sure you tap into the resources

that's all i could really remember as of right now. btw according to my handy dandy US News magazine of rankings and such, mich ranks 7th for best engin program. BUT in terms of specialties it's in the top 5 for: Aerospace, Industrial/Manufacturing, Materials, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental and Nuclear. Hope this helps!
