There's no way I can pay 40k+!

From what I remember… It isn’t the best…two of my friends go there with little to no and are each shelling out close to 60k a year .

It honestly depends. I received over $40k for this year. And I know many people who received just as much or more.

How is CMU for low income students? I know a lot of my middle class friends aren’t able to afford their CMU package, or don’t want to shell out the money. My family’s EFC is $3500 (give or take like $50, I can’t remeber), so I obviously can’t shell out upwards of 50k for tuition and room and board. Some of CMU’s peer institutions have programs specifically for people in my income bracket (Emory Advantage, UChicago’s Odyssey Scholarships, Northwestern’s loan cap, etc); does CMU have something like this?

Can any current low-income CMU student shed some light on CMU FA? Also, @harvard521, if you don’t mind me asking, what income bracket do you fall under? And was the 40k grant money, or a combination of grants and loans? Sorry if I come across as annoying, financial concerns are paramount in my college decisions.

I’m in the same situation as u similar EFC. I have a friend with a similar efc shes paying like 15k a year as far as I know

^ i know that cmu doesnt always meet full need for regular decision students.

Some other things i heard is that more aid is given to urms and applicants that cmu wants to attend.

Yes- CMU ONLY meets full need for Early Decision Students.

Are you talking about internationals? If yes, then the situation’s pretty bad :p

She’s not early decision…she’s currently a freshmen at CMU…

URMs always get things easily so no surprises there.
