how is harvard's and upenn's undergrad architecture?

how is harvard's and upenn's undergrad architecture?

are they as great as cornell's undergrad architecture program?

do they value portfolio more than gpa?

how hard is it to get into them (acceptance rate)?

thanks in advance!

harvard does not have an undergraduate architecture program

kinda like Columbia has no undergrad Journalism. Amazing how folks can get confused by reputations and hearsay.

Correct, Harvard doesn't have an undergrad architecture program.

Penn has one but it is a BA, not a professional degree BArch that Cornell has. There is no portfolio to get into Penn. You cannot be an architect after graduating Penn unless you go onto a MArch Program (which Penn also offers, as does Harvard). Cornell, on the other hand, has a BArch or a MArch program, both of which lead to becoming a licensed architect.

When you apply to Harvard or Penn as an undergrad, there is no commitment to a major, nor are you accepted into any arch program. You apply like any other undergrad liberal arts major. At Cornell, you must be accepted in the BArch program.

That said, a good portfolio and a clearly stated interest in majoring in architecture will weigh heavily on the admissions committee at Penn.
