I have a 4.0 GPA as of now and I'm taking the PSAT for the first time in March. What are the stats of people who got in?

Our Physician Assistant Studies Program is a dual degree program designed to provide students with the opportunity to earn both the B.S. and M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies. The 5 and ½ year program consists of 3 years of prerequisites and 2 and ½ years in the professional phase (if you are offered a seat). Only 35 students are admitted every fall to the professional phase of the program (senior year).

For first-year students, it is possible to proceed directly into the PA Studies Program without applying in the junior year. Admission to this program is open only to first-year students and is highly selective. Applicants must have a combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1230 (or an ACT score of 27) and an overall high school GPA of 3.5 in order to be considered for admission. Direct admission to the B.S./M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies Program is predicated on students completing all undergraduate work in residence while following the pre-professional PA curriculum, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.3 in course work toward the B.S., and providing documentation of 50-100 hours of health care experience. Students must also meet with a PA Studies Program faculty member once each semester and complete an interview during the junior year. Should a student meet all conditions, a seat will be reserved in the class beginning in his/her senior year.

If you are not considered for direct admission, you are still encouraged to attend Hofstra and complete the pre-professional curriculum for the B.S./M.S. Program in Physician Assistant Studies. If you are still interested in pursuing this degree option you may apply to the program via the CASPA process during your junior year and compete for admission into the program with other students applying through CASPA.

If you are interested in learning more, be sure to attend our Spring Open House which is geared specifically for high school juniors (held in April).

thank you.
