thoughts? (10char)

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

i assume that is course material that is easy? wut about the work though? a lot? i heard it’s a lot of memorization.

Workload depends on how fast and well you can memorize things. Tests are all MC and he essentially pulls all questions right off his slides (which are available through bspace). My roommate and I both took the class at the same time, and I found that having a study buddy to constantly bounce practice questions off of was really helpful. The class is curved. How much it is depends on the class average which is usually in the B range if I recall correctly.

This is all for lecture only. I have no opinion for lab since I didn’t take that. Although I’ve heard that the lab is a bit harder.

It’s easy, but there’s a LOT to know. And I mean a hell lot. Just gotta keep reviewing the slides weekly/every now and then so when you do study for the midterm, you have the general ideas in your head. What I like about Carlson is that the questions are straight forward. There are no trick questions. Of course, questions are not like copy and paste from the slides and a word is deleted, but if you know the slides, you know the answer.

The final though…omg. Do not schedule another midterm on the same day (at least one before the 131 final). I was so tired I could not remember anything to save my life and that took me down to a B+ because I think I failed (lol…I was literally guessing and falling asleep the entire hour and a half).

I would say that 131 is Carlson’s worst class. It is REALLY boring. I did well in it last semester but I still regret taking it. I don’t remember ANYTHING that I “learned.” Unless you are required to take it, I would strongly recommend you to find another class.

thanks guys, real good stuff in here. i may just do that wt1234.

can anyone advise if I should still take 131 in the fall if I have another class at the exact same time? im thinking since its carlson, I will probably end up just skipping lecture anyway even if i didnt have another class at the same time (except for diamond’s neuro portion! and the days we have midterms) since he reads from the slides. i would go to my other class instead on all days there are no 131 midterms iow…

Is it necessary to phase I lecture?
I’m going to declare IB soon.

^Nope. Definitely can phase II it.

how is this class in comparison to his ib 140 class? i know that for ib 140 his lectures are by all means not necessary to do well in the class. is this the same for ib 131

same format except with section
