My son has been accepted for electrical engineering at LMU and a number of other schools with much larger engineering departments. We live on the east coast and haven’t been able to visit yet. He thinks he would like to live in California after graduating. We know the campus is beautiful and has small class sizes, but we haven’t been able to get a good feel for the engineering experience at LMU. If somebody has knowledge of the department, we would appreciate any information on the following:
–How is the quality of the teaching? Does it feel like the number of engineering teachers is enough to provide a broad education?
–How do the lab facilities compare with those at bigger schools like Cal Poly, UCLA, Arizona State, etc.?
–Does the seemingly extensive core curriculum get in the way of concentrating on engineering classes? Does it feel like there’s too much of a liberal-arts focus to get a deep engineering education?
–Are there any engineering job fairs on campus? What companies recruit LMU engineers? Anybody know of any links showing a list of companies where graduates work or that hire from LMU?
