How is math useful for internships?

I'm a first-year engineer at UCLA, and I was wondering, what is the use of doing a lot of math in terms of internships? I completed upper division linear algebra during my senior year of high school, and since I am not a math major (find math uninteresting at this point) I stopped doing math, and I am wondering, how can I use the advantage of completion of this math early on to get an internship, and what kind of internship looks for this?
