Hi. I am a junior and am deriving a list of colleges to start thoroughly looking at and visiting
This is what i got so far:

-Penn CAS
-Cornell
-Columbia
-Dartmouth
-Boston College
-Tufts
-Villanova
-Northeastern
-SUNY Geneseo
-Richmond

if you can suggest a university for me or anything of the sort or think i have no chance at some and I should take them off itll be appreciated! (needs to be somewhere near the northeast)

These are some of my stats:
-High School class f 2010
-School type: Public, very competitive, NY
-GPA: UW: 93 W: 98; Notable grade increase
-Rank: top 10% of class of 300
-SAT: 700 CR, 800 M, 750 W
-SAT II: Math II: 800; USH: 780 (also took math level I.. got a 690 but i heard they only look at your best two scores so this wouldn't make a difference)
-very challenging course load (please note... not MOST)
-All APs Senior year (6)
-APUSH test: 5
-All As except one 84 (UW) and one 89 freshman year
-ECs pretty good (nothing amazing though)
oh and essays should be good, same for teacher recs

also i want to get it down to like a number one choice in the upcoming weeks so I can apply for a summer course at the school (if it offers one) so i can really get a good feel and such.. if anyone has any suggestions please share! lol ok ill stop talking now..thanks

also, im very flexible with the type of school, id rather it not be too small or too huge.. something in between, rather have it not situated in the middle of nowhere, near a city or in one is best but i can deal with a rural school too like dmouth.. also it needs to have a really really nice campus and dorms and facilities and of course strong academics

You have a very nice list. Very nice grades. You could add to Vandy, WakeF (who has ED rolling admission- apply in Sept & if it doen't work out you still have time to file another ED by Nov1). Columbia was very good to their ED candidates- check out if school is for you. You might qualify for merit $ at Richmond but don't go ED/EA.

Instead of taking a summer course at your preferred school (it doesn't help application that much) just take course you are passionate about or do something that is hard, like pump gas or volunteer w/ handicap kids for the summer.

yeah thanks.. my sister is handicapped so i was thinking about volunteering with her school or a camp.. but i also really wanted to do a summer program! i was told it helps, especially with penn, with writing the essays and such

Good list. I think you have your reaches, matches and safeties all covered. Just curious about your interest in Geneseo, however. All of your other prospectives are universities. Wouldn't Binghamton align more closely with your other choices than Geneseo, which is more or less a large LAC? Great school, but very different than the thers on your list.

public, and not from NYC.. and my dad went to geneseo and ive visited a few times and like it there.. oh and ive also looked at binghamton.. but not thrilled with it idk.. thanks everyone

You are way better than Penn State just to start. Geneseo is a solid backup, being debatably the best SUNY school. Definitely visit them all or start calling up each college with questions, it'll be easier to narrow them down after calling them.

I would put you at a definite solid chance, but the Ivies especially HYP and UPenn are the most unpredictable. But, you are a great candidate and totally apply! Columbia is most likely and BC is totally definite.
