How is my schedule?

French 1 (5 units)
CS 10 The Beauty and Joy of Computing (4 units)
STAT 21 Intro Stats (4 units)
Linguistics 24 Seminar (1 unit)

I'm taking a total of 14 units for my first semester freshman year. I'm looking into Haas and/or computer science. Are there any other suggestions for classes?

At CalSo, I can sign up for 10.5 units of class. Which classes fill up faster? Which ones should I sign up for? I really do not mind waking up early BTW.

Thanks! :)

Sign up for linguistics seminar and french 1. (small classes). Stats 21 has a lot of room, so you can phase II that.

Last semester they had problems getting enough people to enroll in cs10. So that definitely isn’t a problem.

The schedule look reasonably light. Good luck!

Would it be correct to assume that you have:

a. [Less than three years of high school French](http://french.berkeley.edu/undergrad/placement.php)? (French 1)
b. No significant computer programming experience? (CS 10)
c. A semester of calculus or AP calculus credit? (Statistics 21)

If you are actually trying to do simultaneous degrees in business and computer science, you have to plan your schedule very carefully to be able to complete all requirements within 8 semesters.

kick stat 21 for your frosh year unless you have previous knowledge in stats imho. if you want a good grade in that class, i advise getting a feel for how to “play the game” here at Cal before taking the haas prereq most applicants ef up on/try to avoid.

imo i’d take one of the remaining math classes you have left ([16a or 1a] or [16b or 1b or 53 or 54]) and then throw in econ if you have background in it (but just as a base recommendation, just go for math first imo).

also, why cs 10? also, how do you know you want to do CS? are you taking 10 to see if CS is your thing or not (“testing the waters”)? if so, maybe start with cs 61A? no? meh, your call boss

Yes, I am taking CS 10 to testing the waters because although I am very interested in computer science, I don’t think I’m very knowledgeable yet. :)

The only reason I am taking STAT 21 is because I am currently enrolled in AP Stats.

I am in French 3 right now, but I don’t feel confident skipping Fr 1 at Cal because my teacher is really not teaching any French right now. She is very focused on history and culture instead of learning the language, so I feel that I am forgetting my French everyday. Do I have to skip Fr 1 if I took 3 years of high school French?

Thank you guys!
