How is New Orleans now a days. I like music and culture a lot, and i was wondering if New Orleans still has as much of that as it used too. Is it an intimidating place to live? Is there still a lot of campus life at Tulane apart from the city? Tulane is a top choice of mine and i havnt visited yet. Any responces would be greatly appreciated.

Music and the culture of New Orleans are quite alive and well. Some people say it is even better than immediately pre-Katrina. I know there are actually more restaurants then before, or at least that is what was reported. I certainly feel a better vibe from the city in general.

I am not sure what you mean by intimidating. The violent crime is highly localized to an area well away from campus. It has been bad the last few weeks, but if you lived on campus and never listened to the news, it might as well be in California for all you would know. If you mean is it overwhelming in any way, the answer is no. It is not NYC or Chicago that are so large that it can be difficult to even know where to start.

Current students can speak better to your last question, but it has been recently asked and the answer has been that there is a lot happening on campus (clubs, plays, concerts, lectures, etc.) while the party scene tends to be off campus. I am sure others can elaborate, but Tulane does offer a Twitter feed of events and there seem to be plenty!
