Hello, I want to attend RIT, and I'm wondering how NROTC at Rochester is like. I was just wondering what people's experiences with it are, how time consuming it is, and if you know anyone that commutes from RIT how do they deal with it.
I tried asking on the RIT forums here, but I haven't gotten anything.

Thanks in advance though.

Anyone have any insight?

D dated a guy her freshman year who attends UR on a full Navy scholarship. All I remember her saying was that PT was 5 days/week at 7 am. PT was a hour a day, plus there are mandatory naval history and leadership courses two or three times a week (with homework!). I believe those classes were held later in the afternoon–around 5 pm or so. Cadets were expected to take the naval classes in addition to a full courseload (of 15 credits or more depending on their major). Freshman cadets might have had additional drill time on Saturdays–but I am not sure about that.

Students whose grade in any course fell below expectations were required to attend mandatory evening study halls.

Besides the PT and coursework, there was a very strong expectation that cadets would get involved in corp volunteer projects and campus athletics.

Seems time consuming. I heard you have to wake up early.
