I’m going for nursing and I got a $6K scholarship per year to Rutgers Camden. However, the city of Camden is so awful. I was scared just walking two blocks to the Welcome Center one morning for a campus tour (which half the buildings were closed so it was disappointing getting half of a tour of an already very small campus). I feel safer walking around in Philly tbh. I’m a person that likes to get involved, socialize, and make friends. I live ten minutes away from RUC in Camden County. Again, the program sounds outstanding, but Rutgers-Camden seems like my highschool, small and lacks spirit. I possibly would rather go to RCGC for Nursing, then transfer to Rowan; or go to CCC, then transfer to Stockon. Both Stockton and Rowan have great nursing programs too.
Current Rutgers NB student,
My mom was a Rutgers Camden alum! She attended for Law school, and the program for not only law school but for nursing is outstanding. It is affordable, and just out-right top notch. As for the area of Camden, she said for the most part she absolutely loved it. There are parts that are dangerous in Camden sure, but the campus itself is very safe. There is a very noticeable security presence on campus and at all the parking lots.
Camden is literally safer than Philly going by homicide stats
