I believe I am a pretty good artist at my age, and I’m thinking about applying art or art related programs.
Cornell’s architect is one of my choice, but how is Cornell’s undergrad art program? Is it about the RISD level, slightly below, or way below?
Also, when I am EDing Cornell, can I ed to both programs, which are both under the AAP school?
Thanks for the help!
PS: can anyone give me a basic idea for the academic requirements for those art related schools? Ive heard the admission look more into portfolio. I have a 2200 SAT, 4.5 WGPA, and 4 and 5’s on 8 APs. Are those academic stats solid for top national art/design schools?
@AutoFire I answered you on another post re: ivies and studio art. Cornell is no where near the level of RISD. you are comparing apples to oranges. Cornell’s program is very small and is nothing like RISD. why the concern with the ivies? Seems like getting into an ivy is more important than the caliber of the art program. If your art is truly strong enough to make the cut at RISD, then go for it and understand that RISD is super competitive and prestigious on its own. But don’t make assumptions about getting accepted there. Definitely get input by going for a portfolio review.
Also don’t think that art will be a back door into the ivies and that it will make up for fairly typical grades. Lots of kids send art and music supplements.
